READ IF YOU HAVE A CHILD WHO ALREADY HAS HAD LESSONS ELSEWHERE
Is your son or daughter completely bored or embarrassed to play the music they are getting with another teacher / facility?
Have they been taking lessons for 2,3, or 4 years and they are playing songs like "Johnny Tugboat" "My Pony" or have the Captain pointing to notes with his sword?
Are you, as a parent, wishing they could play something cool? Don't worry. The kids are thinking the same way as you!
Their friends come over and they don't want to play or sing anything because it just isn't their style... and they just don't want to let down their peer group.
Yep. I hear it all of the time! You are not alone.
I hear it from kids, teens, Young and old adults and parents.
I CAN HELP. Did you hear me? I CAN HELP.
Sometimes kids feel like, "Oh no! I am at Level I or Level II-A and there are 6 levels ---and I hate these songs--- and I don't want to tell my parents because they have been paying for lessons for so long ---and it will be easier if I tell my parents I want to quit ---rather than having the impending embarrassment of my friends hearing me play Johnny Tugboat"
PARENTS, I GET IT. I UNDERSTAND.
THE INVESTMENT you made in having them learn a musical instrument or singing is on the brink of going down the tubes. Right? Maybe I can help.
READ IF YOU ARE STARTING LESSONS ANEW
My lessons start with a 1 hour long rapport building lesson.
I ask questions about their music likes and dislikes
I show the student what I can do on the piano and keyboards
Voice students are shown the recording capabilities for every lesson
I assure them that we can develop a goal to achieve the music that they want to play
I incorporate classical techniques, tricks of the trade rock techniques and encourage songwriting and instrument exploration.
We do not subscribe to a particular method book. However younger students 4 -9 y.o. do respond to this style of structured learning
I design and tailor a path of achievement for each student.
I am unconventional, well-versed, accomplished both in piano/keyboards and voice as well as a funny teacher
